Snowboarding in the Grand Massif
The Grand Massif ski area covers 264kms of piste and is the 3rd largest ski area in Europe. It is perfect for all levels and great for snowboarders. You will be staying at La Source eco chalet which is 5 minutes drive from the Samoens and Morillon lifts with your daily transfers included.
Whether you are strapping on a snowboard for the first time or an experiences rider looking to hit the parks or looking for some off piste action the Grand Massif area will not disappoint.
You will be staying at La Source a 5* but very laid back skier and snowboarder Eco-Lodge. La Source is on the edge of Samoens, France's only 'historic and cultural' ski resort. It covers 265kms of piste and is linked with Flaine. La Source attracts an environmentally aware international and interesting crowd. There is yoga-stretch offered in the morning and the food is mostly organic and vegetarian.

The Schedule
When you arrive at La Source, you will be greeted with tea and will be shown around. The people who need to hire skis and snowboards will get their gear. We will also buy the ski passes and confirm lessons, guides, instructors, etc.. We will have a welcome dinner party and get to know each other.
Yoga is on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
After a healthy continental breakfast you can be first on the hill or take the ‘lie-in’ shuttle at 10.30am.
Collection at the end of the day is 4.30pm. Tea and home-made cakes will await you.
On Monday morning we will do a piste (and best mountain restaurant) orientation on the slopes.
The hot tub will be lit on Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Dinner is always the hub of La Source and the time everyone gets together, changes the world, and makes plans for the following day.
What is there to do?
Most people come here to ski and snowboard. The area is excellent for beginners to experts. The experts often ride with us if we are going out. (You will need your own shovel, transceiver and probe on a powder day).
We also run guides off-piste ski, avalanche awareness and ski touring courses. We recommend beginners do our unique ‘Winter Mountain Immersion’ or take group or private lessons. For non-skiers have a look at our ‘holistic winter’ course.
Guests often pair up according to experience and ride or ski together.
As long as our guests agree, we let you know who else has booked and what level of skier they are. We try to co-ordinate people who want to do the same things. This year, it seems we will be getting a lot of guests who want to get into the back-country and try ski-touring.
Can I come on my own?
Most of our guests do! We encourage people coming on their own to book onto a course. They run every week as soon as we have a minimum of 4 people signed up. |

& Centre Details |

La Source is 5 minutes above Samoens village 1 hour from Geneva airport on the Edge of one of France's most spectacular Nature Reserve's.
There is a massive open plan living space, a separate TV den, library, heated sports room, laundry room, and 5 bedrooms and a mezzanine. We can sleep a maximum of 14 people. It has 7 bedrooms, a wood fired hot tub and massive communal living area, library, TV/music den, sports room, bike washing facility, etc.
There is a big garden with a big chill out BBQ deck and wood fired hot tub. The neighbours cows come through the garden!
Food is sourced from local organic farms.
We have 14 beds in 7 bedrooms and a mezzanine. There is 1 single room, 3 doubles (or twins), 1 triple and a twin mezzanine. The rooms are all very different. Some are en suite and some share a bathroom. The beds are selected on a first come, first serve basis sort of like Easyjet. If you book early, you can get the single room at no extra cost. If you book late, the Mezzanine may be the only room available.
We encourage our single guests to share as it all adds to the sense of community and often good friends are made. You will only share with someone of the same gender. If you would rather not share, there is a charge of E350 per empty bed. |
