Eco Snowboard Week
For environmentally conscious people who want a winter mountain experience ‘out of the lift system’.
You learn about no impact travel in a winter wilderness. We snowboard tour and snowboard off piste for 3 days then snow shoe to a stunning winter refuge where we spend the night.
The next day we build an igloo by the frozen lake. On the last day you choose what you do - we recommend taking to the ski de fond track with views of Mont Blanc.
You need to be a strong intermediate snowboarder.

An average of 100 million people visits the Alps every year with visible consequences. The goal is not to stop people exploring but to shift consciousness so that we explore with ‘Respect’. This non-profit course is one way of increasing awareness of the beauty and fragility of our environment without impacting it. If you hitch or take the train we’ll offer you a free pick up in Cluse and 10% off the cost of the course. 5% will go to Respect the Mountain, a charity raising Mountain Awareness.
What will we do?
When you arrive you’ll have time to sort out equipment and settle into La Source with a welcome dinner party. Then the next day you head into a pristine winter wilderness with Agniezka. She has lived here for 15 years and is an International Mountain Leader and Snowshoe guide. At the end of the day, you’ll snowshoe up to a refuge and spend the night in a secluded paradise.
The next day you’ll get to work building an igloo and learning about staying safe in a potentially harsh winter environment. In the afternoon, back in Samoens, you’ll hire all your ski touring gear ready for the next day.
On day 3 you meet Didier, our UIAGM aspirant guide. He will take you through the back country to some awe-inspiring places not many people get to see under snow. You will have 3 day-trips, ski touring and snowboard off piste. If you are a snowboarder, you will snow shoe and carry your board.
The last day is a free day.. you could choose to ice climb, ski de fond, or even ski on piste... but beware... this week will alter your vision of piste skiing for life!
You need to be a good snowboard, comfortable on most black runs. Off-piste snowboarding experience is not necessary. |

It is 5 minutes above Samoens village 1 hour from Geneva airport on the Edge of one of France's most spectacular Nature Reserve's.
La Source has 7 bedrooms, a wood fired hot tub and massive communal living area, library, TV/music den, sports room, bike washing facility, etc.
There is a big garden with a big chill out BBQ deck and wood fired hot tub. The neighbours cows come through the garden!
Food is sourced from local organic farms.
We have 12 beds in 5 bedrooms and a mezzanine. There is 1 single room, 3 doubles (or twins), 1 triple and a twin mezzanine. The rooms are all very different. Some are en suite and some share a bathroom. The beds are selected on a first come, first serve basis sort of like Easyjet. If you book early, you can get the single room at no extra cost. If you book late, the Mezzanine may be the only room available.
We encourage our single guests to share as it all adds to the sense of community and often good friends are made. You will only share with someone of the same gender. If you would rather not share, there is a charge of E350 per empty bed. |
